The Pumpkin by John Greenleaf Whittier | a poem for Thanksgiving

3 years ago to the day, I published a recording of me narrating "The Pumpkin" by John Greenleaf Whittier. At the time, I didn't think about posting it on this site, as it was done primarily as a little surprise for my mother, to whom I dedicated the reading. But as we approach the Thanksgiving holiday this year, I decided to share the project here. I hope you enjoy the narration of this piece of classic poetry.

I have long loved the autumn time, and it's been my favorite season for many years. And the highlight of the fall in my growing-up years was always the Thanksgiving holiday. Family and friends, some of whom we hadn't seen for a while, packed into the house, and we all enjoyed a wonderful feast prepared by my mom. Two things always made the meal special: her pumpkin pies and her amazing stuffing. I do enjoy fruit pies, but to this day, pumpkin is my favorite.

This post is about the pumpkin pie, but her stuffing recipe is so good that even after I left home, I have made her stuffing several times when I couldn't get back to her house for the holiday. It really is that good! Hit me up if you want the recipe. (It's now linked below.)

I hope you enjoyed this recording. And I hope you have a great Thanksgiving! Let me know in the comments what your favorite pie is.
